The Centre for African Allied Health Research and Advanced Development (CAAHRAD) was founded in 2025 as a direct response to the critical gaps in allied health operations, research, and policy across Africa.
While physicians and nurses often receive significant focus in health systems strengthening, allied health professionals—Medical Laboratory Scientists, Radiographers, Physiotherapists, and others—form the backbone of diagnostic and therapeutic care yet remain under-resourced and under-researched.
CAAHRAD is the first institute of its kind explicitly dedicated to elevating these disciplines through evidence generation and advanced capacity building, starting with a strategic focus on our founder's home region of Northern Nigeria.
